"Phil Valentine’s call to walk the Appalachian Trail is a vivid example of moving beyond recovery FROM life-threating illnesses as a means of recovering TO a life of extraordinary possibilities. Thousands of us who have shared the challenges and unexpected gifts from such recovery journeys will be walking in spirit with him.” ~Bill White

Last week, a reporter asked me what I had learned on the trail so far. Great question!
1. A positive attitude is a huge asset, especially when braced with gratitude. 2. Walking is the panacea for all that ails me. Keep moving. 3. Simplify. 4. Focus on the task at hand, stay in the present. 5. That I have taken my wife for granted. Sandy is an amazing, loving, talented woman who sacrifices so much for me and our family. The highlight of my day is when I hear her voice. And when I don't have cell service, it's depressing.
